covid patient admission experience
Patient 70+ had low oxygen. Bmc sent a technician to do a rapid test. After it was positive. Their doctor phoned to ask us the hospital preference. Then another doctor phoned to confirm booking in that hospital. Then they told us thime the ambulance would pick up the patient.
Due to a hip surgery patient could not get into the ambulance. The ambulance only had the driver no attendant. The ambulance driver said they are not trained to use the stretcher or have a wheelchair.
At the hospital the ambulance goes to the basement and an attendant with full ppe came to take the patient. No one can go in the ambulance with the patient.
Now no one tell the family if any payment needs to be made and where. The guards have no clue about covid billing the hospital and will refuse you entry. The kokilaben hospital covid billing is at the emergency department. You need to patients pan card and aadhar card to complete the payment formalities.
It's chaos as no one tells you anything there is no sign or document directing you to the right place
So the covid floors have a whatsApp number. For patients relatives to communicate with the nurses. This number is written on you bill when you make the initial deposit.
No fruits includes in hospital food discovery. It can be requested but not included as a norm.
When the patient is moved to another floor the relatives are not informed (maybe staff is over worked) the relative needs to proactively find out.
Covid icu on the 5th floor. Covid general ward on the 12 floor. No relatives allows.
The Doctor in the icu said ivermectin zinc and vitamin c are 🐂 💩💩💩 . In the icu they only give oxygen if the patient needs it and nothing else to a covid positive patient with no symptoms. Even the bmc does not give any medicines like hcq etc.
D Dimer blood test seems to be high for all patients.
Woman 70+ some have low Wbc
Men 70+ had high leukocytes
men were highly contagious even on the 10th/12th day .
Cost of treatment for covid at kokilaben hospital andheri January 2021
Day 1 21000 rupees only for stay ,food ,xray, some tests
Day 2 31000 rupees only for stay ,food ,some blood tests .
Your old clothes have to be incinerated(burnt) you cant take it back . Kokilaben does not provide news papers to patients. You need someone outside to buy it and send it to you . .
Day 11 doctor says we don't re test asymptomatic patient for covid. We send them home for isolation.
11th day still covid positive
Discharge procedure hell
So first they won't tell you have to do the discharge. You have you keep asking
The guy managing the billing phone no will never respond to whatsApp and rarely picks up the calll. So the billing department is opposite the chemist on the ground floor of kokilaben hospital.
You need to pick up the discharge papers and collect any balance of the advance you paid.
Then again no one tells you the next step. Guy in billing says " You got a pass? " What pass? Covid relatives don't get any pass. Then the patient talked to the nurse. Who told me you have to come to the 12th floor to collect the patients paper. Now blue elevator 5,6 are labelled 5-12 floor. But it does not stop at the ground floor. Now what. I phone the 12 th floor no again. Nurse you have to take the elevator no 7-8 and tell them central desk on the 12th floor. Now elevator 7-8 are not labelled as those stopping on the 12th floor. Why can't thru just send the files down on discharge???
After getting the files they send the 70+ year patient down to the upper basement and the relative has to take another lift to the ground floor. Then walk to the upper basement. They leave the patient at the basement
Now the covid recovering patient has to walk without any support up a 45 degree ramp to the main gate and take their own transportation. Scary Disappointing experience on how the senior citizens have to really struggle on their own.
The icu doctor kiran shetty is good and phones the relatives every night to update them.
The main doctor sumeet singhania in the covid general ward on the 12th floor never visits nor does any junior doctor ever update the patient. The malayali doctor who does the rounds is rude and abrupt. He tells the patient " I am very busy today, I don't have time for you" . He also discharges patient after 10 days to home isolate without redoing a rt pcr test.this malyali doctor was only interested in some research he was doing.making patients sign consent forms to take 10 ml of their blood for his research.
I wont forget the harassment by the security guards.
why are you getting outside medicines?
Because these medicines are NOT available in the covid ward
what is this medicine for?
You (F*** not said) this is a suppository to put up your ass . Showed finger movement as cannot think how to make the non medical guy understand from just seeing the suppository box .
Why are you getting outside clothes?
Because the p
